On the first plateau of the Jura at an altitude of 570 m, in the region of lakes and waterfalls (Lakes of Chalain, Bonlieu, Cascades du Hérisson), Syam enjoys a privileged position between vineyards and mountains.
At the gateway to the Haut Jura Natural Park and the Revermont valleys (Baume-les-Messieurs, Les Planches), close to Arbois (Pasteur's town), Poligny (capital of the Comté) and Château-Chalon (classified among the most beautiful villages in France).

Syam is located at the confluence of three rivers classified in the 1st category: La Lemme, La Saine and the Ain.

BAUME-LES-MESSIEURS
A picturesque village 8 km northeast of Lons-le-Saunier in a remote area. In a beautiful setting, Baume-les-Messieurs is surrounded by steep wooded slopes and overlooked by a 13th-century abbey. This Benedictine abbey of Saint-Pierre dates back to the early 11th century (the village was founded around 869).
Listed among the most beautiful villages in France, Baume-les-Messieurs is particularly known for its small streets, its waterfall (Cascade de Tuf), its caves and its abbey.

CHATEAU CHALON
One of the main reasons to visit the small, friendly village of Château-Chalon is its commanding hilltop position, which offers sublime views of the vineyards in the valley below.

ARC-ET-SENANS AND ITS SALT FLOURS
The Royal Saltworks is located south of Besançon, in the Chaux Forest in the Franche-Comté region. Construction of the Royal Saltworks began in 1775 on the orders of Louis XV.
It was designed by LEDOUX and is characterized by its exceptional architecture. Since 1982, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building was originally intended for salt production.
